Free Hotel Service

Since we bought a house here, I don't know why, and I don't know how, people just assume that they have free accommodation in Singapore. I've got comments like, "Good! I can stay at your place then. Coz, you know, the hotel in Singapore is expensive. Not to mention, the currency exchange against Rupiah... bla bla bla"

I got really worked up and frustrated, whenever I hear such comments, especially from those, whom I'm not close to. Well, hello... Just because we know each other, it doesn't mean, we can stay together, no? Why being such thick-skinned (in some cases, people call it being excited)? If I reject politely, they think that I'm being obnoxious.

Well, hello! Let's put yourself in my shoes! If I have 10 people like you (which I have more than that), am I running free hotel service here? Free for you, I'm paying my bills. You think, air-con is free? Water is free? I'm not being calculative here. Just because, I'm able to stay in an apartment in Singapore, it doesn't mean I'm rich, okay? We have other bills, and only one source of income.

Dun even try to suggest paying the bill. Coz, we just get this straight. The whole idea of you insisting staying at our place, is because of one reason. FREE. So, don't feel bad if I refuse your charity to pay my bill, as well as refuse to let you stay at my house.

And, dun even try to suggest buying any mattress or anything. I dun want to add any litter in my house, and I dun like big crowd in my space. Isn't it clear? Why can't some people being a little bit more sensitive? When people reject you politely, just suck it up and take it. Why suggesting more and more things that make the other party feel bad and difficult?

You are just one person here, that want to stay for free. We still have other people that assume, they are eligible to butt in to others' privacy.

Please understand that, when I refuse to let you stay over at my house, it's because we dun like crowds, we dun like mess, we are tight on budget, but we dun need your charity. And most importantly, we hate moving our furniture around, and make the whole house looks like some illegal immigrants' place.
